A Jackson & Jackson distributor client in South Louisiana had a long outstanding debt owed by a former shifty customer in North Louisiana necessitating a lawsuit against the debtor on his home turf.
After discovery requests went unanswered and settlement discussions proved unproductive, a motion for summary judgment was filed and heard in Louisiana State District Court in Monroe. The debtor opposed the motion, albeit with self—serving unsupported affidavits.
After a second hearing, Jackson & Jackson overcame the debtor’s home field advantage and attempts to obfuscate their failure to pay to obtain a judgment for our client against both the debtor company and its personal guarantor for all principal, contractual and judicial interest plus attorneys fees in excess of $150,000.
